Tip of the Month

Baby talk
If you received a special bundle of joy this holiday season, our adorable birth announcements are the perfect way to share your news! They are sweet and filled with holiday cheer, and the best part is that you can print them in a snap.

Our PrintingPress design features a stork in a Santa hat flying with a special bundle. We started by adding the image of the stork to the top of a White 4-bar card with the card’s margins set to zero. Then we added the baby’s name in red and green using the Times New Roman font in all lowercase letters. Since the stork image runs to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We paired it with a Deep Red envelope lined in Avocado, and added santa stork (red & green) StationeryStamps in the Small size.

If you want a more wintry design, try our PrintingPress Platinum design. We started by adding the word “JOY” to a White 4-bar card. We used all uppercase letters in pink and white using the Times New Roman font and added a white snowflake as a floating image in the center of the “O.” Next we added the baby’s photograph as a floating image. We set the photo’s width to 3.5 inches so that it fills the width of the card. We scattered pink and white snowflakes using floating images across the card. We added the baby’s name and stats in pink and white using the Times New Roman font in all lowercase letters. We added a red background image and set it to fill the card. Please note that since the text is not visible against the red in PrintingPress Platinum, you will need to change the text color to black to make your changes, then change it back to white when you are finished. Since the red background runs to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. Pair it with Deep Red envelopes lined in Blush, and add joy snowflake (pink & red) StationeryStamps in the Small size.

Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design features your gorgeous newborn’s face on a present with a beautiful red bow. We added the baby’s photo as a floating image to a White 4-bar card, and added a 4 point red custom border to the photo. Next we added a floating image of a bow with the Make white transparent setting enabled above the photo to make it look like a holiday gift. We added two more gifts as floating images and used the Move to Back button to move them behind the baby’s photograph. We added a custom background with the margins set to zero and filled the entire background in light blue. We added the baby’s name and information in red and white using the Times New Roman font in all lowercase letters. Since the blue background runs to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. Paired with Powder Blue Envelopes lined in Deep Red, it’s a sweet holiday gift for the recipient to open. For the finishing touch, we added Custom Image StationeryStamps with the baby’s photograph outlined in red.

To the Extreme

Dinner time!
The holiday season is filled with gathering of families and friends, and hosting an intimate holiday dinner party is the perfect way to get together with friends. Whether you invite just a few friends or everyone on your block, our fun invitations will set the tone for a casual, festive evening.

We used PrintingPress Extreme 5.0’s custom border feature to add a border to a White A7 card. We set the border’s shape to Line (Left), set the border’s width to 2.61667 inches, and filled the border with a new fun dots pattern. Next, we added white snowflakes as floating images above two of the dots in the border. We adjusted the card’s margins to center the text to the right of the border. We added the invitation text using the Arial font in the same blue as one of the dots. We set the Text Case for the text to Small Caps and set the Character Spacing to 2. Since the dots run to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. We paired the invitation with Chocolate envelopes lined in Avocado and added coordinating Custom Image StationeryStamps.

Last-Minute Lovely

Playing tag
If you’re wrapping a pile of presents this holiday season, it can be really helpful to have a stack of gift tags ready to go. Print a stack for each child in your family and then tag each gift as you wrap.

Our PrintingPress design features more of our new penguins; this time adorned in festive polka dotted holiday scarves. We added a pair in red and green scarves to the front of a 3.5 x 4 inch White place card. We wrote the name in coordinating red or blue using the Times New Roman font in all lowercase letters. We also offer a design with blue and green scarves. You can either type your own holiday message inside or sign your name by hand.

An adorable snowman sleds across the front of our PrintingPress Platinum design. We added a background image with the sledding snowman to the front of a White place card, set the Opacity to 100% and resized the background to fill the front of the card. We set the guest name to use the Brina font from Fonts & Graphics 3 in white and set the horizontal alignment to Right and moved the guest name up into the sky. We used a floating text box to add a personalized message to the inside of the place card in red using the Brina font. You can double-click on the text box to enter your own custom message, or delete the text box to hand write a personal greeting. To print a stack of gift tags with the same name, use the single name version of the card. To print a list of names, use the multiple names version. Just add names to the project’s Mailing List and set the RSVP status to RSVP received to add the person’s name to the Guest List. Since the snowman background goes to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature.

For an elegant package, try our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design. We started by adding a custom background with the shape set to AccuCut A7 Cards-Frame (NC674SJ) – landscape, filled the background in light blue and added a 0.144 inch margin. Next we added a dark blue dotted line custom border with the same shape and 0.125 inch margins. We used multi-up place cards to print multiple names per sheet and regular labels to print a sheet of the same name. We added white snowflakes as floating images, and floated them behind the main text area of the card. We used the Alyssa font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings in dark blue for the name, and added a greeting using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. Since the tags are printed onto labels, just peel and stick as you wrap. For tips on adding names to your Guest List in a snap, see this month’s Extreme Tip.

Special Occasion in a Snap

Save the date
If you received a very special bauble this holiday season, your New Year’s resolution may be to spread the news as soon as possible. We’ve created some fabulous save the date designs that you can print in a flash.

A solitaire engagement ring sits inside a snow globe at the top of our PrintingPress design. We added the snow globe to the top of a White 4 x 5.25 inch custom cut card. We added the bride and groom’s names in red using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We used a double-stick tape gun to mount the card to a Deep Red A2 card. We lined the Powder Blue envelopes in Deep Red and added solitaire snow globe Personalized StationeryStamps in the Small size.

For a sparkling message, try our PrintingPress Platinum design. We started by adding a caramel snowflake as a floating image to a Metallic Vanilla A2 card. We rotated the image 10 degrees to the left and aligned it to the right margin. We added the bride and groom’s names in brown using the Alyssa Afternoon font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings, and the remainder of the text using the Benjamin Caps font from Fonts & Graphics for Weddings. We added the words “Please Save the Date” at the bottom of the card aligned to the right margin. We lined the Metallic Vintage envelopes in Metallic Vanilla and added snowflake silhouette (chocolate & caramel) Personalized StationeryStamps.

Our PrintingPress Extreme 5.0 design is a perfect winter’s scene. We started by adding a background image of birch trees in a field of snow with a trio of birds frolicking in the snow to a White A7 card. We adjusted the margins to center the text to the left of the trees, and added the text in white using the Times New Roman font with the Small Caps text case. We added 2 points of Character Spacing to give the text an airy look, and added the words “Please Save the Date” in brown across the field of snow at the bottom of the card. Since the winter scene goes all the way to the edge of the card, we used our printer’s borderless printing feature. To complete the look, we lined the Chocolate envelopes in Powder Blue and added winter birch trees Personalized StationeryStamps.
